The iDrive control concept.

The cockpit of a commercial aircraft has around 400 controls. And not one of them operates the CD player. With the iDrive system (available only in combination with the optional navigation system), you have control over much more than your music. The Controller puts all cabin comfort features at your fingertips. The Control Display, above the central console, informs and guides you with ease. Your gaze, and your thoughts, are free to focus on the pleasure of driving.

The Start/Stop button.
Reach to the central console and touch the Start/Stop button with the tip of your finger. Instantly an electronic signal wakes the engine to life. A tiny vibration, almost indiscernible, makes itself felt on your fingertip, and moves into your entire body. It tells you: under the bonnet, the power unit of the BMW 3 Series is ready to take you anywhere.
