Straight Six-Cylinder Engine
Lighter, faster, more powerful, more efficient: no other element of an automobile defines its character as much as its engine. The all-new straight six-cylinder engine, constructed from a combination of magnesium and aluminium, sets new standards for dynamic engineering. It runs with a sophisticated smoothness that belies its massive power output: the powerplant in the BMW 330i releases up to 190 kW (258 bhp) on command.

Six-speed transmission.
A short movement of the shift lever and the gear changes instantly. The clutch re-engages and directs the full force of the drive power to the rear wheels. Standard for the BMW 3 Series , the six-speed transmission system extracts even more driving pleasure from the muscular torque of the engines. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Sports driving demands unwavering concentration. Reactions are measured in milliseconds. DSC constantly monitors the forces acting on the 3 Series chassis and checks that they are within the maximum limits. If the vehicle's behaviour indicates a danger of skidding, the system quickly and subtly intervenes by braking individual wheels as needed. The next-generation DSC now offers not only ABS and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) but new extended functions.

Suspension and dampers
A tarmac highway, a dirt track, a cobbled lane - whatever you've driving on, the 3 Series suspension and damper system is ready for the challenge.
