The new clarity.
Simpler, more logical, more transparent - these are the principles of the BMW 5 Series Sedan's cockpit ergonomics. The iDrive concept ensures that all primary driving functions are entirely under the driver's control, positioned on or near the steering wheel. Secondary driving functions and cabin comfort controls are placed on the central console and/or are accessed via the Controller. Thanks to the logical, intuitive menu structure, the Controller effectively eliminates excess instruments from the dashboard. Instead, the focus remains on the driver, and the unmatched pleasure of driving the 5 Series

Heads-Up Display.
Vehicle speed information or navigation system directions - the optional Head-Up Display (available end of 2003) means that the driver's eyes never have to leave the road. Information is projected into the driver's field of vision.
Voice Control.
In combination with the optional Professional navigation system, Voice Control enables hands-free control of all core iDrive functions - a considerable boost for safety and convenience.

iDrive.
Four points of the compass, four menu items. The clarity of the main menu on the Control Display allows trouble-free control of communication, navigation, entertainment and climate functions.
Navigation System.
The optional BMW Professional navigation system (available end of 2003) uses clear audio instructions and a high-quality 8.8 inch screen to guide the driver to the destination.

Comfort Seats.
The optional Comfort Seats combine ergonomic body support and outstanding freedom of movement with superb design and high-quality materials. .
Leg Room.
Thanks to the generous proportions of the 5 Series Sedan's cabin, all occupants can enjoy remarkable leg room and shoulder room. Taking the rear seat is an enviable pleasure.

Cargo Space.
With its remarkable boot capacity of a 520 litres and its broad, low-set boot opening, the 5 Series is superbly equipped to deal with the most demanding cargo requirements .
