The masterful petrol V8 is the flagship of the 5 Series engines, delivering 245 kW (333 bhp). And to transmit this power and refinement with razor-sharp precision, a range of six-speed transmission systems are available, each tailor-made for the superb powerplants of the 5 Series.

Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG).
A driving experience of extraordinary pleasure is guaranteed by the optional Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG). De-clutching is carried out hydraulically, gear shifts are implemented in milliseconds, and power control is razor-sharp. Shifting gears in sequence also protects the transmission from wear.
