Safety
When every millisecond counts.
The safety system in the BMW 7 Series uses state-of-the-art sensor technology to ensure that the Sedan's occupants have the protection they need, when they need it. Just five milliseconds is all the system takes to detect an impact, calculate its severity, recognise which of the eight airbags needs to be deployed and to inflate them to the correct degree. At the same time, the occupant restraint system and Active Headrests (if the optional Comfort Seats are fitted) are activated as required.

Thinking ahead.
The BMW 7 Series Sedan with optional Adaptive Headlights puts winding roads in a new light. Sensors permanently monitor the Sedan's speed, yaw and front-wheel steering angle; the system can then calculate the path of the road ahead. Electromechanical motors swivel the xenon headlight units to direct the beam to exactly where the Sedan is heading. The result: greatly improved illumination and increased safety, especially on winding roads.

Active Cruise Control.
Ideal for relaxing driving over long distances: Active Cruise Control (ACC) enables the driver to select the preferred cruising speed, and the desired distance that should be maintained from any vehicle in front. Sensors constantly scan the road ahead: as long as the path is clear, cruising speed is maintained. If a vehicle is detected, the system reduces the speed of the 7 Series to ensure it remains at the pre-set distance. Once the lane is clear again, ACC returns to cruising speed.

Stop and go.
Automatic Hold applies the brakes whenever the Sedan's speed falls to zero, and then releases them when the driver touches the accelerator.

Visible quality.
The long-lasting Light Emitting Diode (LED) rear lights are electronically controlled for increased effectiveness.
