Head-Up Display with M indicator. Always keep an eye on the most important information. The optional Head-Up Display enables drivers to do just that by projecting speed, navigation directions and Check Control data onto the windscreen for optimum visibility. In addition, the M indicator can be activated to display the SMG gear currently selected, the rev count as a dynamic graph curve and the optimum moment to change gear (indicated by the flashing rev count display).

Head Protection System (HPS). BMW's Head Protection System is an inflatable tubular structure to protect the heads of a vehicle's front and rear seat occupants. Operating in conjunction with the side airbags, the system provides front seat occupants with outstanding protection in the case of severe side impact. It helps protect the head from hitting the side window and being hit by objects penetrating the side window. In recognition of this remarkable protection, BMW was named "Safe Car of the Millennium" by the International Brain Injury Association.

Sudden halt. Perforated and ventilated compound disc brakes form the heart of the high-performance brake system in the BMW M3 Coupé. Able to withstand exceptionally high temperatures, they deliver an exceptionally long operational life and outstanding braking performance: from 100 km/h to zero in just 2.6 seconds - or less than 36 metres.
