The BMW Z4 Roadster back
Safety
Time out for your guardian angel.
The body of the BMW Z4 Roadster is made of highly rigid steel and is designed to withstand impacts at speeds of up to 15 km/h. In more serious incidents, the four standard airbags offer excellent all-round protection for driver and passenger. Advanced Safety Electronics (ASE) ensure that each airbag is triggered independently as the situation requires.
The roll-over system.
Two attractive roll-over bars in ruthenium-look steel (chrome on the 3.0si) ensure maximum safety combined with aesthetic design. Together, the roll bars and reinforced windscreen form a protective safety zone for occupants should the unthinkable happen.
Cornering Brake Control.
Braking reduces the load on the rear wheels. In bends, this can lead to the car oversteering. Cornering Brake Control counteracts this tendency by applying braking pressure asymmetrically, allowing the car to be stabilised even outside the anti-lock braking system's range of operation. It means the Z4 Roadster sticks to your chosen line even when cornering at speed.
Run-flat tires.
Run-flats make roadside tire changes a thing of the past. Their specially reinforced sidewalls allow the car to keep going at up to 50 mi/h - for as much as 155 mi. with careful driving. And because you no longer need to carry a spare, the standard run-flats on the BMW Z4 Roadster mean more luggage space and less weight. The tyres have also been tailored to suit the Z4 Roadster's sporty character and now offer a more comfortable ride - without affecting the car's agility.
